Rooted in love, worship, education and service, we work to do God's work in our congregation, our community, and the world.
Here at Calvary we worship on Sundays at 10:00 am, with a traditional, liturgical service. The second Sunday of most months we use the Chicago Folk Service - a favorite of our congregation. Our Thursday service - at 6:00 pm - is a less formal service.
Everyone is always invited, and welcome!
We have a great Christian Education program for our youth. Calvary's Kids - for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade - meets on Wednesdays, at 5:30 pm. Classes run from Wednesday, 12 September through mid-May. We take a few weeks off, following the school calendar. All children are welcome!
In the summer, we have a week of Vacation Bible School, which we hold in conjunction with the Antigo United Methodist Church.
We have Confirmation Classes on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, for seventh and eighth graders. The two years of Confirmation Class delve into The Lord's Prayer, the Apostles' Creed, the Ten Commandments, Baptism, Confession, and the Bible - and what each of these means for our lives as God's people today.
And we engage in a variety of mission projects. We support the Antigo Area Food Pantry, and AVAIL. We also make school kits and personal care kits for Lutheran World Relief. Members participate in the annual CROP Walk, and some years we host it.
In September we are collecting school supplies to make School Kits for Lutheran World Relief. In October we will be donating cans of food to construct a Can Sculpture for the Thrivent Cans Hunger competition - a benefit event for the Antigo Area Food Pantry. We are constructing our sculpture in conjunction with St. John's Lutheran Church in Polar.
There is always something going on at Calvary - as we seek to grow in our faith and our response to God's work in our lives. Come and join us on the journey of faith!
Bible Verse for the Week ... Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
Just as the sufferings of Christ are abundant for us, so also our consolation is abundant through Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:5
Good Shepherd, you guide us through the darkest moments of life. Grant us the courage and hope born of faith, and strengthen us through your grace. Send us forth as your ambassadors to console others who suffer or mourn. Amen.
